Therapeutic approaches

Most important is the relevance and meaning to the client - to the content being explored and the client's ability to validate and gain insights into personal worldview and adjust or redefine core beliefs and behaviors.

Generally, this involves cognitive-behavioral work: guiding the client in identifying and considering the effectiveness of existing thinking patterns; exploring and applying healthy self-empowering alternatives.

Experiential work - Gestalt; heart-centered hypnotherapy techniques - may be involved, facilitating the client's access to life experiences, recognizing and drawing on integral strengths in identifying and healing past conflicts, trauma, and other painful events.

Heart-centered hypnotherapy techniques may be particularly effective in addressing substance abuse/dependence and other behavior patterns: tobacco reduction/cessation, food issues, sexual compulsions and challenges.

A humanistic philosophy - of respect and unconditional positive regard for all who call on my services and resources - guides all of my work with clients.

About Me

I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida, and certified as an advanced clinical hypnotherapist. I have a master's degree in mental health counseling from Nova Southeastern University and a doctorate in adult education from Florida International University.

Following several years of clinical training at SunServe, a social services agency in Wilton Manors, Florida, I established my therapy practice and have continued professional involvement with SunServe and other community organizations.
